Klubnacht

James Ruskin is considered a central figure in British techno. As a producer and DJ, he builds stylistic bridges between the mechanical techno-funk tradition of Detroit and the reduced, often dark soundscape of the UK. Born in 1972 in Croydon, he started DJing in the early 90s. In 1996, he founded the Blueprint label with Richard Polson. His releases on labels such as Tresor, Token and Blueprint follow an uncompromising aesthetic: deeply rooted in groove and at the same time infused with clearly contoured, almost clinical textures and sometimes shades of ambience. Dream Horizons is the stunning debut album by Munich-based Lindsey Wang aka Polygoni, just released on Dekmantel. Known for her organic sound design and the integration of classical instruments (saxophone, flute, violin), Wang finally breaks away from genre boundaries here. IDM, drum'n'bass, ambient, dubstep and techno merge into a fluid musical language. At this Klubnacht, Ruskin and Polygonia will play at Berghain, while one floor up, Ben Klock and Luke Slater will each play a rare house set.
