To mark our 21st birthday, Italian producers Donato Dozzy and Neel, together as Voices From The Lake, will be playing a live set lasting several hours at Berghain. They each had success as solo artists for many years before coming together in 2011 for a one-off live performance at Japan's Labyrinth Festival. As they later said themselves, the preparation for this performance “accidentally” led to the creation of an entire album: Voices From The Lake, released in 2012 and long since a milestone in the history of ambient techno. To this day, the work is considered a prime example and mind-expanding reference point for decelerated, organic sonic architecture with its finely modulated field recordings, microtonal movements and layered textures. Now after 13 years, the second album under this name, II, is being released this month. Playing at Panorama Bar will be Canadian-born, Lisbon-based Mathew Jonson: Early on, the producer developed an unmistakable style combining analog purism with complex, psychedelic structures. At the heart of his productions to this day is the Roland SH-101, giving his tracks such as “Decompression,” “Typerope,” and “Marionette” their characteristic animated drive.
