Camilla Sparksss — the solo project of Swiss-Canadian musician and visual artist Barbara Lehnhoff — brings her explosive electro noise pop to Berlin. Known also as the co-founder of post-punk band Peter Kernel, Sparksss delivers high-energy live performances driven by heavy beats, thick synths, and razor-sharp vocals.
Born in Kenora, Ontario (famously at −27°C), Lehnhoff’s music blends dark-wave, experimental electronics, and raw pop energy. Her debut album For You The Wild (2014) introduced her distinctive sound and led to tours across Europe, including shows with Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. The follow-up Brutal (2019) and its remix edition featured collaborations with artists such as Fakear and Rebeka Warrior, while in 2023 she toured Europe and the UK with A Place to Bury Strangers.
Beyond the stage, Sparksss works across music, film, and theatre - collaborating with Alec Ounsworth (Clap Your Hands Say Yeah), Mike Mare (Dälek), and director Nicolas Stemann. Her 2023 audiovisual album Lullabies and the remix project by William Basinski and Gary Thomas Wright further expanded her sonic universe.
In 2025, her self-directed video Watch Me won Best Swiss Music Video at the Solothurn Film Festival. With more than 1000 shows worldwide, Camilla Sparksss has become a powerful presence in the international experimental music scene.
Her latest album ICU RUN (2025, On The Camper Records) is a renegade soundtrack about escape and refuge — made to move both body and mind.
Berlin-based duo The Nightclubs, made up of Sophie Soraya and Hermie Hemlock, channel a sharp, nostalgic energy through a modern electronic lens, drawing from the glitchy edge of electroclash and the sleek pulse of 70s and 80s synth pop.
Blurring the line between concert and party, their performances centre around analogue hardware and an energetic, instinctive stage presence. Their independent release Mirror Romance has picked up spins from Jack Antonoff and Nathan Shepherd on BBC Radio 6 Music, alongside early support from So Young and upcoming shows with Lewis OfMan and Camilla Sparksss, plus dates across Milan, Madrid, and London in the pipeline.
With a run of releases on the horizon, The Nightclubs are carving out their place in a lineage that nods to Ladytron, Crystal Castles, and Miss Kittin.
